I could have sworn I've posted before on Sarah Coakley's "The Trinity and Gender Reconsidered" but my search for the subject and her has turned up nothing in my blog archives. Hmmm....maybe I wanted to but never did.
She does a wonderful job explicating these two subjects in her brief but rich chapter in God's Life in Trinity. This book is a compilation of different scholars paying tribute to Jurgen Moltmann. Coakley is indeed grateful to the pioneering work Moltmann has done with Trinity and Gender
She interacts with Moltmann's views on gender and Trinity.
I love this quote from Moltmann: "If men call God 'Father' in order to be able to find an identity and now women call God 'Mother' in order to discover themselves in religious terms, what would donkeys call God? Is the Godhead just a screen for all possible projections, with the slogan 'What's your fancy?' Is the Christian faith a religious supermarket?"
