The Obama story is big tonight. It may not stay big, but tonight his story gains national media focus by beating the Clinton juggernaut in Iowa. I was one of those who believed that Clinton has had the most compelling political story in the pre-campaign season.
Out of nowhere, Obama has made a statement tonight against Clinton and others. Yes, the campaign has just begun and Obama may be toast in a couple of months. Perhaps, this will turn out to be an isolated victory for him. However, in terms of the political calendar, this was a huge win for Obama tonight.
Ever since Obama threw his hat into the ring I thought he could give Clinton an interesting race. It wasn't but a couple of months ago where polls showed Clinton had a significant lead over him. I am not counting Clinton out by any stretch of the imagination. She still does have the most compelling political story of all the candidates, republicans and democrats. Obama's win tonight did not change that. His win does give his campaign fresh energy in the national spotlight. Indeed, it may be the start of the biggest political story in 2008.
My opinion hasn't changed since Obama decided to run. I think Obama is the democrat who can emerge out of this with a more compelling political story than Clinton which would be something to watch as the campaign unfolds.
